FIREWORKS BOOTH

The Cabrillo Civic Club #12 will be selling fireworks again this year at the Save Mart Shopping Center between Rite Aid and McDonalds.  Chairperson, Anthony Rocha needs our help with all shifts for selling the fireworks.  If you have any questions or can help please call Anthony @ home 687-8697 or cell 804-1246.  The shifts are as follows: 8:00 am – 12:00 pm, 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm, and 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm beginning Sunday July 1, thru Wednesday July 4, 2007. Please support our booth, the funds raised are donated to the Hospice of Tulare County. Members show your card and you will receive a 10% discount.

BOWL DOWN CANCER

We would like our members and friends to show support and come out for this event as all proceeds are donated to American Cancer Society.  Please call and sign-up with Chairperson Eleanor Gomes @ 688-8107 in order to reserve enough lanes.

2007 SCHOLARSHIP & ACHIEVEMENT WINNERS

Tulare County had thirteen State Scholarship winners and another four were selected as local achievement award winners.  Scholarship Winners were Kevin Nunes, Stefanie Parreira, Caytlin Costa, Danielle Oliveira, Corbin Costa and Larissa Maichrowicz all from Tulare Union; Chadd Anderson, Jenica Milanesio, Nicole Luis and Nicole Pay all from Tulare Western; David Bishop from El Diamante; Andrew Metzler from Golden West; and Stephanie Correia from Redwood.  Local Achievement Award Recipients were Brogan Gimbarti from El Diamante, Jessica Bettencourt from Exeter, Andrew Tamariz from Tulare Union, and Thomas Murrell from Mt. Whitney.

RAFFLE DRAWING

Cabrillo Civic Clubs of California, are sponsoring a raffle drawing, to be held at the State Board Meeting in Pismo Beach on October 27, 2007.  The funds raised will be used to generate an additional 30 Scholarships for 2008 and help with the Portuguese Rose Bowl Float for 2008.  Tickets are $25.00 each and are available from Chairperson Ron Clark @ 732-8761, board members and at the Annual Fish Fry Dinner.

MOTHER’S/FATHER’S DAY DINNER

Our Mother’s Day / Father’s Day Dinner was held May 24, 2007 at the P.P.A.V. Hall.  Manuel and Mercedes Mendonca chaired the event.  They did a great job and everyone seemed to enjoy the wonderful meal provided.   During the dinner, scholarship chair, Alda Lawrence introduced our 2007 scholarship recipients and their parents to the membership in attendance.   A raffle drawing was held where one lucky mother, Geraldine Lopes and one lucky father, Bill Maxey.  We also held a 50/50 drawing with the lucky winner being, Ted Rocha.
